We asked Luis Colmenares, the Lead Personal Assistant at The Capella Washington, D.C. in Georgetown for 3 Fun Things to Do in D.C. Here are his recommendations:

1. National Air & Space Museum: Situated in the Smithsonian complex, families with kids of all ages will love experiencing the National Air and Space Museum, home to the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. Children will enjoy hands-on experiments, flight simulators, IMAX Theater, planetarium, public observatory and much more. Admission is free.

2. The National Zoo: When traveling with the family and kids to Washington, D.C. you definitely don't want to miss the National Zoo. The zoo has many attractions for young children, like the animal petting area and scavenger hunts. There are over 400 animals housed at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, which includes favorites like elephants, monkeys and pandas. Admission is free.

3. Port Discovery Children’s Museum (in Baltimore): This museum is ranked among the top 12 children’s museums in the United States. Experience three floors of interactive, educational exhibits and ever-changing programs for children up to 10 years old. Toddle and crawl through Tot Trails. Get healthy and fit in Kick It Up!. Splish splash in Wonders of Water. Shop and pump gas at the Royal Farms Convenience Store and Fill’er Up Station. Cook and serve food in Tiny’s Diner or climb and slide through KidWorks, a 3-story urban treehouse. Tickets are $14.50 for kids ages 2 and older.
