Remember the good old days when you could check-in to a hotel room, any hotel room, and it was all pretty much to your liking? So long as it had a clean bed, a working bathroom and a decent view?

Those days are gone now that you've decided to bring the kids. Any hotel room really won't do. Especially not if you need a crib AND a rollaway bed.

But the six hotel brands listed below are ready and willing to host your family for the night, or even the week. With complimentary amenities ranging from kitchenettes to cribs and helpful services like kids clubs and babysitters, you won't have to haul all your gear from home or plan out every single waking moment. You may even get a moment to relax with a glass of wine. Cheers!

EMBASSY SUITES

What Makes Them Family-Friendly:

LOEWS HOTELS

What Makes Them Family-Friendly:

  • Loews Loves Kids: The brand-wide kids program varies from property to property but kids can expect a nifty little activity book and a mini-bar stocked with kid-friendly snacks in the room. The hotel will also have a list of nearby attractions and activities that are age-appropriate along with recommendations for babysitters and doctors.
  • *Kids Closet: Forgot something during your stay? You can borrow it from the hotel with their lending program. The list is expansive, ranging from baby toys, to books, nightlights, child-proofing kits and a stroller. Of course, if you forget to return the item after your stay, you will be charged--at hotel mark-up prices too.
  • Teen Amenities: A special teen-oriented lending library is offered as well with rentable electronics, board games and more. Teens also get a free music download at check-in and a list of nearby attractions that aren't "uncool."
  • Free WiFi
  • Excellent locations in popular destinations

Loews Hotels has 14 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, along with four hotels at Universal Studios in Orlando where you'll find these Despicable Minion suites. The newest Loews Hotel is the Cabana Bay Beach Resort which has family suites with kitchenettes that can sleep up to six people. The resort also has a lazy river, a 10-lane bowling alley and a Game-O-Rama arcade.

HYATT REGENCY RESORTS

What Makes Them Family-Friendly:

  • *Camp Hyatt: Kids ages 3-12 are able to spend the day at Camp Hyatt at participating resorts (there are some resorts where the kids need to be 5.) There is a charge for sending your kid to camp but you can choose from either a full day or a half day. Some camps even do a nightime shift so M+D can get out to dinner on their own.
  • Babies Travel Lite: Hyatt's partnered with this family-oriented delivery service which will ship all that you need--from diapers to toys and even food--to your hotel room before you arrive. Hyatt also has its own "Toy Box" at the front desk with different toys for children to choose from.
  • Teen Activities: Each Hyatt Regency will have legit activites for teens to do like surfing lessons and zipline tours. Some Hyatts also host the Hyatt Teen Suite16 parties for Sweet 16 birthday parties. Yes, that's an overnight sleepover for your teen and his/her friends. No co-ed parties allowed, right?
  • Awesome Pools: Most Hyatt Regency resorts have sweet pool scenes like the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Sp in Texas which has a four-acre water park that includes a crazy cool FlowRider machine.

Hyatt Regency has 23 hotels across the world, with 17 in the U.S. and Caribbean that offer Camp Hyatt. And if you need a second room, you can save up to 50 percent off with the Hyatt Family Plan. Call 1-800-55-HYATT to book.

RITZ-CARLTON HOTELS

What Makes Them Family-Friendly:

  • *Ritz Kids: This kids program was developed in partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and is available in 85 of Ritz-Carlton's hotels around the world. Kids ages 4-12 will learn about the surrounding area of their hotel using one of these four pillars of Coustea's programming: Water, Land, Environmental Responsibility and Culture.
  • Special Baby Amenities: Most Ritz-Carltons have all the baby amenities you need from cribs with Sferra baby linens to play yards, toiletries and toys. But the Ritz-Carlton Cancun goes above and beyond with their "Itzy Bitzy Baby Room" which resembles a nursery and has a phone that lights up but doesn't ring, in case baby is sleeping.
  • Club Lounges: Book a room on the club floor and you'll get access to the club lounge where complimentary snacks and drinks are served throughout the day.

Ritz-Carlton really does it right when it comes to kids and each property has different amenities to bestow upon their little guests. You can see what each hotel offers here.

FOUR SEASONS HOTELS

What Makes Them Family-Friendly:

  • *Kids For All Seasons:  All Four Seasons resorts and some select urban hotels offer a complimentary supervised program for the kids, seven days a week. Activities vary from property to property but you can expect movie nights, kid-friendly tours and excursions, and professional babysitting services.
  • Extensive Baby Amenities: Much like Ritz-Carlton, the Four Seasons will bring up whatever you might need for your baby from diapers to bassinets and strollers.
  • Family Holidays blog: Four Seasons runs the "Have Family, Will Travel" site featuring things to do at different Four Seasons Hotels around the world. You can even "ask" their Kids Concierge for suggestions for your own trip.

Four Seasons has 92 hotels in 38 countries and they are opening in the ultimate family-friendly destination this summer--Orlando. The Four Seasons at Disney World will offer luxury accommodations and special Magic Kingdom services, such as the on-site Disney Planning Center along with character breakfast. But best of all, there will be an adult pool.

Trips + Giggles Hotel Tip: If the hotel you're staying in doesn't readily advertise an amenity you need--crib, child-proofing kits, toiletries, etc.-- simply ask the front desk. You'll be surprised at all the stuff they keep on hand for families.

We'll be spotlighting even more family-friendly hotels and their amenities in the weeks to come. So stay tuned! Got a question now? Let us know.
