Hotels for The Holidays: 3 Family-Friendly Spots in LA & OC

Estimated read time 3 min read

The best part about a getaway in Southern California during the holiday season? The beach photo ops that will surely make your Facebook frenemies friends in colder climates way jealous. Here are three hotels that have put together a little something-something for families this holdiay season.

PACFIC EDGE LAGUNA BEACH: The beachfront hotel is offering a “Pint-Sized VIP” package that include a gift bag from The Candy Baron candy shoppe, a complimentary breakfast for one child under 12, a build your own “Sand Mansion” Kit (how very OC of them) and complimentary overnight parkign. Oh and a room too.

We recommend either the beachfront rooms which literally overlook the beach or the apartment rooms which have two-bedroom options. Rates start at $260 a night while an apartment goes for $380. Use code PINTSIZED to book. (While you're there, don't forget to check out Dana Point's holiday lights extravaganza, Illuminocean.)

FOUR SEASONS WESTLAKE VILLAGE: This hotel near Calabasas is about 30 minutes from an actual beach but they are putting on a spectacular line-up of holiday fun, lincluding a hybrid skating rink, Holiday Express train rides, breakfast with holiday characters, Elf storytime and tuck-ins and, wait for it, “Let It Snow” live snowfall. The hotel's Winter Wonderland package is available throughout the month of December, starting at $248 a night, but most activities at the resort don't require a room reservation.

TERRANEA RESORT: Just south of Los Angeles proper is the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, which is consistently a favorite oceanfront spot for families. And the holidays are sure to delight, especially the resort's own tree lighting on December 7. More Terranea holiday traditions include Elf Tuck-Ins (beginning December 1), Holiday Stories by the Fire and Postcards to the North Pole.

The hotel is offering their Ultimate Family Getaway package which gives you discounts starting at 15 percent off for a three-night stay. However, they are offering 35 percent off on Black Friday and Cyber Monday for reservations through December 30, 2015. Use codes BLACKFRIDAY or CYBERMONDAY to book. The discounts cannot be combined with other offfers and the reservation is nonrefundable. Regular rates start at around $700 a night, plus a $25 resort fee, so yeah, booking on Black Friday or Cyber Monday will be worth it.
