Summer's winding down but once the kids are back in school that gives you dear parent more time to yourself—and more time to plan/dream/book your next vacation. And if you've been thinking about doing a cruise, here's a tip that will please your bank account.
Currently, kids must sail as the 3rd or 4th guests when sharing a stateroom with two full-fare paying adults. Kids will still need to pay taxes, port dues, flight and transfer fees, and any other add-ons. (Well, you have to pay them. Not the kids.) However, the fine print on this deal is going to change starting with Summer 2018 sailings. The same deal applies but with the cost of insurance added. But, there's another good piece of news! Children 12-17 can also sail free on cruises in low and mid-season. That's kind of awesome. Just be sure you select the "Kids Sail Free" option at the time of booking.
MSC Cruises sail to over 150 destinations worldwide. They are also the cruise line with Lego-themed rooms and experiences. Other family-friendly amenities include complimentary baby amenities for children under the age of three (strollers, bottle warmers, high chairs, etc.), kids programs for 3-6 year-olds as well as 7-11 year-olds, and a Young Club Y-Teen for those 12 and older.
Here are a few other cruise lines with special "Kids Sail Free" fares or steep discounts for children.
