Check Out Lufthansa’s Adorable Family Check-In Counter

Estimated read time 2 min read

Flying long-haul is never fun (except maybe if you're in business class) but at least German airline, Lufthansa, makes it friendlier for families with this adorable family check-in point at the Frankfurt Airport.

Located at Departure Hall B at counters 336-338, the counters are open to parents traveling with children age 12 and under. You'll be able to spot the check-in thanks to Lu and Cosmo, Lufthansa's two mascots. Once you arrive, the ticketing desk will take your bags and print your tickets, no hassle. There are even little steps for kids to stand on, so they can watch the check-in procedure. Kids will also receive a “Best Friend” boarding pass for the stuffed animal (imaginary friends probably get a pass too!) Parents, meanwhile, will receive a “Family Guide” booklet that contains pertinent info about the airport like where the play areas, baby changing tables and even observation decks are.

Lufthansa also offers this family check-in service at the Munich Airport at counters 423–424 in the departures terminal.

Another family-friendly perk at the Frankfurt Airport is the free stroller rental service. Free! And if you've got status with Lufthansa or your flying first or business class, then you can bring the family into the Frankfurt Business Lounge at Gate B48, where there is a special children's area. A first for Lufthansa, the kids lounge features a play corner, drawing tables, game consoles, computers, a cinema and plenty of beanbag chairs to hang out on.

Lufthansa, like much of Germany, has a long history of taking good care of the kinder. Check out these family travel flashback snapshots found on their Facebook page!

It's too late to get our brood to Germany for Oktoberfest but we'll be keeping Lufthansa at the top of our list for our next flight to Europe.
