Preferred Hotel Group’s New Residences Are Practically Made for Families

Estimated read time 3 min read

The other day we gave you the low-down on an apartment and home vacation rental site, called Kid & Coe, which exclusively lists family-friendly properties around the world. (Yes, even in Greece!)

But if you're afraid of leaving the cushy comforts of a hotel or resort, here's a happy medium–Preferred Hotel Group's Preferred Residences, launching this month.

Consisting of residential properties that are already a part of a resort or hotel, the new collection gives families the best of both worlds–the privacy and ease of a house or a villa, and the amenities and services of a full-service hotel. Oh yes, we're talking about ordering room service to your villa.

Preferred Residences has 22 properties lined up for booking, with properties as near as Laguna Beach and as far as Tanzania. Don't worry, the popular family vacay spot of Maui is covered too.

Looking at The Sanctuary Resort at Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona, there are three different mountainside estate options available, starting at $465 a night. Each house comes with Frette linens on the bed, Red Flower toiletries in the bathrooms, large-screen TVs and even votives candles and bath salts for your nightly soak. Don't forget, staying here will give you access to the rest of the resort as well.

Since these residences are part of luxury resorts, the nightly rate will be higher than booking a regular apartment or house. However, you can always split one of these places with another family to bring the cost down.

Or, since according to Preferred Hotel Group's recent study on multi-generational travel, grandparents tend to foot the bill for family vacations, invite your folks to come along. (Happy birthday Dad, we got you a vacation that you can pay for!)

The residences may not be small kid-friendly either, but there is always the option of having the hotel baby-proof the property before you arrive.

Don't need a residence for your next vacation? Preferred Hotel Group also has 280 hotels in its Preferred Family Collection. These hotels are certified by Preferred Hotel Group to be extremely family-friendly with baby amenities available in the guestrooms, kids programs and babysitters on-site, and other special experiences for families to enjoy.

You don't have to be an iPrefer member to book a Preferred Hotel Group property, but you might as well since the program will get you points for your stay, special recognition at the hotel, WiFi and the likely possibilty of early check-in and late check-out.
