The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood Will Open on April 7

In the lead-up to all the holiday DRAMA, we completely missed the news that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Hollywood would be opening on APRIL 7. Yes, as in just four months away. A muggle from USA Today got an exclusive hard-hat tour of the Wizarding World and has detailed all that will be available at the flick of a wand. (Ok, more like the cost of theme park ticket which currently costs $95 for ages 3 and older, but will no doubt go up when 'Arry arrives.)

If you're a Harry Potter nerd but have not been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando (we have) or in Osaka, then you will be plenty stoked. There will be a Hogsmeade Village, the Hogwarts School, complete with The Forbidden Journey ride, and a second ride, The Flight of the Hippogriff.

Eight stores and shops from the Harry Potter books and movies will be found at Hogsmeade, including Ollivanders Wand shop, Zonko's Joke Shop, and Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods. Butterbeer will be served at Magic Neeps and at Butterbeer carts. Adults will be able to indulge in real ale at the Hog's Head Pub. As for the rides, The Forbidden Journey is promising Quidditch-inspired 3-D goggles for an elevated track screen ride while the Flight of the Hippogriff will be a outdoor roller coaster, the first of its kind at this Universal Studios. (This ride in Orlando had me scared Snape because of its whiplash twists and turns. Where was our Patronus when we needed it?)

And of course, there will be Harry Potter merchandise galore. Which is completely fine with us. Oh and did we not mention that we won't be bringing our kids with us on April 7? No, we need to “test” everything out for them and make sure it's ok. Mmmkay?
