The Langham Pasadena’s ‘Imagine Tea’ Will Bring the Magic Back on June 7

Estimated read time 3 min read

High Tea is not necessarily a time for rambunctious children (unless it's a pretend High Tea party in the safety of your playroom, of course) but at The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, their recurring Imagine Tea is offered especially for children 12 and under, and with plenty of activties aside from sipping tea to keep them busy.

For starters, the children are encouraged to dress up in “whichever character, person or animal most appeals to their imagination.” No white gloves necessary. Unless your child is into that. Once they arrive at the tea party, they can decorate their own tiaras and crowns with guidance from the Little Junebugs crafting studio. After that, they can step into the Snapgram Photo Booth, don some crazy props or pretend to be a pop star, and take a few (dozen) photos.

When everyone can stop giggling over their silly photos, then it's time for the main event.

Children can dine on a cleverly-crafted menu of adorable mini-sandwiches (ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, PB&J and deviled egg) along with quite a few cookies and cupcakes, all whimsically decorated and personalized. As for the tea, children can choose from a selection of fruit-infused, caffeine-free tea or opt for pink lemonade or milk. (Or maybe even water? Nah.)

Adults will get a proper selection of tea sandwiches as well full caffeine-strength tea to drink, which you will need for chasing the children after all that sugar.

While everyone is sitting down (hopefully) having tea, young magicians from Hollywood's Magic Castle will come around and perform insanely good magic tricks. Here's magician Jeff Black  levitating a $5 Canadian bill which was originally a $5 US bill. This trick was performed in daylight, right in front of our eyes, no curtains or smoke needed. #Mindblown.

Meanwhile, amidst all the shrieks of delight and awe, you will hear a lovely pianist softly playing her renditions of popular children's songs, such as “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

In short, this is not your grandmother's stuffy High Tea time and we're so thankful for that. (Sorry, Gram!)

The next Imagine Tea will take place on June 7 followed by another on September 13. Tickets are priced at $48 for adults and $36 for children 12 and under. A portion of the proceeds from the tea benefit Five Acres, a child & family services agency promoting the safety, well-being and permanency for children and their families since 1888. Seating times are at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
