Space, Glorious Extra Space at The Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui

Estimated read time 3 min read

When it comes to where to stay in Wailea, your options range from great to fantastic. Seriously! This little resort enclave in South Maui has some of the world's best hotels and resorts along 1,500 acres of coastline. I've been to all of them and here's what you need to know about the Fairmont Kea Lani.

For starters, the Moroccon and Mexican-inspired property (check out this architecture!) is all-suites. Room categories start at a one-bedroom suite ranging from 860 to 1,100-sq.ft. And yes, they do feature a separate bedroom and living room area so you can sleep separately from the kids. #blessed. The suites also come with giant bathrooms, a small kitchenette area with a microwave, and a private lanai. Even better, the rates for all this spacearen't astronomically higher than the other resorts nearby.

And if you book through me, you'll get some extra perks too. See below for the full details!

As with all rooms in an oceanfront resort, you'll pay more for the ocean views and less for Mountainside and Garden View rooms. These aren't our favorite rooms in Wailea in terms of decor and furnishings, but you will have plenty of space here and with families, that sometimes matters more.

The Fairmont also has the picture-perfect Polo Beach that feels private, thanks to lava rock boundaries on both sides. The other beach resorts in Wailea pretty much all blend into one.

Not into beaching? No stress. Fairmont Kea Lani also has three swimming pools, including an adults-only one and a kids' pool. Rounding out the other amenities are a Willow Stream spa and the Keiki Lani kids club.

As for dining, Nick's Fishmarket is a popular dinner spot amongst Wailea guests yet the hotel's Kō restaurant is equally impressive, especially with its “plantation-inspired” menu which is 90 percent locally sourced. That's not something you see typically in big resorts.

And remember, you're in Hawaii. It's perfectly fine to just sit at the pool or beach or on your lanai and relax. All. Day. Long.

Aaahh.
