A Proper Rest at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel

Estimated read time 2 min read

The summer of “nearcations” is coming to an end but given all the change in the world, opting for closeby getaways is a trend that will undoubtably continue for a while longer. So today, we're rounding up one our favorite spots, the Santa Monica Proper in Santa Monica, California.

This beauty is just seven blocks from the beach but it's so gorgeous on the inside, we wouldn't blame you if you never left.

The property is split amongst two buildings—one a historic 1920s architectural gem and the other an eye-catching modern beauty. Rooms in the landmark building have a slightly differently layout than those in the new building. The Landmark rooms feel a bit more boutique, although the new rooms have more space.

Here's a look inside a Deluxe Suite in the Landmark building.

Certain things have changed since Covid-19, largely that the dining options are limited to the Calabra rooftop and room service, reservations are required to lay out at the rooftop pool (access is still complimentary) and masks and social distancing are enforced. You can see all that the resort is doing here.

But again, these rooms are so delightful (designed by Kelly Wearstler, a interior design legend) you could hole up in them all weekend and not miss a thing.

Rates typically start around $400 a night. And yes, it is family-friendly!
