Miami Beach, with resorts galore along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue that typically offer both beach and pool access, can certainly be viewed as a family-friendly destination. But come on, we all know Miami Beach is a party haven for the rich, ocassionally famous and nearly naked jet-setters, especially during the winter months.
The new Miami Beach Edition hotel, in the former Seville Hotel, at 29th and Collins, is certainly attracting the party scene. Created by hotelier Ian Schrager (the man most famous for running the infamous Studio 54 nightclub in NYC forever ago), the luxury hotel has simple but sophisticated guest rooms upstairs with a multitude of experiences downstairs to choose from–whether it be food by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, two pools, beach activities, a spa, a nightclub, a bowling alley or an ice-skating rink.
Yes, an ice-skating rink. In Miami Beach. Open year-round. (It's indoors obviously.)
You can read more about the property over on HotelChatter but lest you think the property is just for models, modelizers, playboys and other bold-named sorts, here's a snapshot of the Room Service Kids Menu.

Despite the kiddie options on the room service menu, the Edition does not have Kids Clubs or Tween/Teen Lounges on site. You can arrange babysitting services and off-resort experiences through the concierge as well as request cribs but this place is probably best for the really young (0-1 year) or a bit older (13 and up.)
Then again, you could always have family time bowling or ice-skating.
Rates at Edition right now start at around $430 right with a $25 resort fee, but will increase in peak season (January-April.)
