Until a Real Jurassic Park Opens, There’s Always The Dinosaur-Themed Best Western in Denver

Estimated read time 2 min read

If you've got a budding paleontologist in your family, or a child who's obsessed with dinosaurs, the Best Western Denver Southwest is a must-visit for your next famiily vacation.

The hotel recently underwent a “bedrock to rooftop” renovation, removing all their bland and mundane hotel furniture and installing replicas of dinosaur skulls and bones, paleotology murals, a lobby that resembles the library of a 19th century fossil hunter, a petrified wood bar in the restaurant, and even a “jurassic dig pit” outside for younger kids. There's also a pool. Double win!

The dinosaur-theme isn't just a random coincidence. Denver is close to where the Great Plains meets the Rocky Mountains, an area that's considered a geological and paelontological goldmine.

Alas, the dino-theme doesn't extend to the guestrooms, which look much like your average Best Western hotel room.

Rates at the Best Western Denver start around $135 a night for a room with two queen beds and $155 for a suite with a king bed and a pull-out bed. The rate also includes free WiFi and hot breakfast at Paleo Joe's Barthe hotel's explorer-themed restaurant (the food is not Paleo though, just traditional bar food.)
