Virgin Atlantic is known for their incredible airport lounges which are actually called Clubhouses. These rarified airport retreats (there are 10 worldwide) are reserved for passengers in the airline's Upper Class cabin, Flying Gold members and Delta One passengers. While the top Clubhouse is the one at London's Heathrow Airport (complete a salon, spa, and a little flyer's area, shown below), the one at Los Angeles International Airport is equally swish, if just much smaller.

Located in Terminal 2, the Clubhouse is above the gates and has great views of the airplanes arriving, landing, and getting ready for the night flight. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the view or the free WiFi. But the best part is the complimentary food and beverages that are served. When our flight to Manchester was delayed an hour, we were actually quite happy because it meant another Bramble cocktail and fries.
That said, there aren't many amenities for families unless you count the changing tables in the bathroom and the ability to watch planes from nicer seats. But again, the food and drinks should help with that.
