Remember that time we got up early in the morning in Hawaii and swam with the turtles and dolphins?
Ok, so really these are just the play structures in the shallow end of the Wailea Beach Resort's outstanding NALU kid's pool but smaller kids will still be thrilled to “swim” with them.
Check out this video of the entire kids pool area.
The Wailea Beach Resort (a Marriott property) was renovated last year and looks fabuloso. (We stayed there in 2014 before the renovations and it was, MEH.) Aside from the kids' pool, there's also the Kolohe Keiki Kids Club, a gaming lounge, a 90-seat movie theater, and several restaurants, none too fancy. As for the resort's location, it's right in front of the Shops at Wailea. While it doesn't have its own beach access, guests can walk down the Wailea beach path to a spot on the beach dedicated for hotel guests.
Wailea is a bit touristy but thankfully, the Marriott has upped its design and comforts. We actually think it has one of the better luaus in the area. The luau name even includes the word “Moana.” And for those who need to keep up with their Starbucks addiction, the resort has a full Starbucks on-property.
Right now in low season, room rates are about $300 a night, not including resort fees ($35) and taxes. In high season (typically the winter months), when the whales migrate back to Hawaii, rates jump up to $580 a night.
