Teach Your Kid How to Swim…Like a Mermaid at Hawks Cay Resort

Estimated read time 2 min read

Ariel once sang that “Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far” and she's kind of right about that. But wouldn't it be fun to at least try?

Now you can, thanks to the Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key in The Florida Keys. The resort has partnered up with the Orlando-based Mermaid Academy to offer mermaid swimming lessons, complete with mermaid tails.

The class is being offered over Thanksgiving weekend on November 29 and then again over Christmas and New Year's on December 26 and 27 and January 2 and 3. A one-hour session with a mermaid tail is $25. If you'd rather learn to swim like a shark, you can opt for that at $15 for one-hour.

Rates at Hawks Cay start at around $340 a night over Thanksgiving for a nearly 800-sq.ft. two-bedroom townhome in the Sunset Village of the resort, which is close to the resort's Indies kids clubs. The townhome comes with one queen bed, two twin beds, a sleeper sofa, a full kitchen and one and a half baths.

Aside from swimming like a mermaid, families can swim with dolphins, parasail, go deep-sea fishing and snorkel along coral reefs. Or just “relax” at the pirate ship pool.
