Hard Rock Hotels are Ready to Rock Your Kids’ Worlds

Estimated read time 3 min read

Remember how in the late 80s/early 90s, Hard Rock Cafes were like, the coolest places ever? And if you couldn't get to a Hard Rock Cafe, the next best thing was wearing a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt gifted to you by someone who went there (although you totally pretended it was you who went there.)

Yet as we became adults, we began to associate the Hard Rock brand with its debaucherous hotel in Vegas which hosted, and still hosts, an insanely wild adults only pool party every Sunday in the summer called Rehab. Unmentionable things happen here.

But in recent years, Hard Rock Hotels have turned into a legit hotels brand, opening properties throughout the world–most without a casino attached. Hard Rock even launched a bunch of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, complete with kids clubs. Crazy, right? But now they are going one step further.

Today, Hard Rock International announced their Hard Rock Roxtars kids program which will be found at Hard Rock Hotels, Cafes and Rock Shops worldwide.

The Hard Rock Roxtars consists of five “band members.” They are:

  • Razzi: Described as a “motherly type” who plays keyboard
  • Sir Kingston: A British rock n' roller who plays lead guitar
  • Styler: A free spirit punk princess who accompanies Kingston on guitar
  • Buddy Jr: A wild man who lives for a drum solo
  • Skiddley: Described as “Mr. Cool” and the lead singer of the band.

You can listen to their rock anthem here. (Warning: you may not ever want to hear the words “Rock City” again.)

At Hard Rock Hotels, kids will “join the band” at check-in. They will be given a Hard Rock Roxtar Activity Book, along with access to the Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club, a “music-inspired haven filled with music-infused learning activities customized by property.” Okeydokey.

Meanwhile at Hard Rock Cafes, your little rockstars will eat off guitar-shaped plated and order from a Roxtars-themed menu. Fortunately, the entree choices will not be “road food” but rather, healthy dishes like Skiddley's “Not-so-diddley” chicken breasts and “twisty n' tasty” cavatappi pasta.

At the Rock Shops, usually found in every Hard Rock hotel and cafe, kids can take home their favorite Roxtars along with other Hard Rock swag like light-up drumsticks and band tees.

The rock vibe puts an exciting twist on the hotel kids club concept, which depending on the place you visit, can be downright somber. And of cousre, the Roxtars will please your music-obsessed child as will all the “music-infused” activities Hard Rock is promising.

But we're still not entirely convinced that Hard Rocks are the best family-friendly places to stay. Also, hello? Rock isn't the only form of music. We hope hip-hop gets a little love too. EDM, not so much.
