'The Bachelorette' and her many mischevious men may have recently filmed at La Quinta Resort and Spa, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, in Palm Desert (about 30 minutes from downtown Palm Springs), but it’s actually the perfect spot for families.

SPACIOUS ROOMS
Why? For starters, there are lots of connecting rooms which is always important when traveling with three kids or more. We booked a poolside king casita, which connects to a poolside double queen casita and it was more space than we ever could have dreamed of. Especially since the poolside kings have a full bar set-up with sink, shelves and a mini-fridge.

However, even the regular rooms (called casitas) are quite spacious with big bathrooms and mini-bar areas. Plus, there are lots of different room options from poolside to mountain view, to spa suites, and starlight casitaas (these are our favorites because they have a rooftop patio that's superb for star-gazing.)
SO MUCH TO DO
Secondly, there's so much to do within the resort. Tennis and golf are the big attractions here but you can find pickleball courts too. And since the resort is so spread out, there are endless paths for kids to scooter, bike or skateboard on.

SOME THINGS HAVE CHANGED
Of course, in these Covid times, many things have changed. The spa and fitness center remain closed and all the restaurants have pivoted to outdoor dining although the Marketplace still offers to-go meals and the all-important coffee. Masks are required in all the public areas, yet social distancing is easy since all the rooms are situated within two-story casitas so there are no elevators or long hallways to travel down.

You don't even need to go to the lobby to check-in and get your key as you can do it all from the Hilton Honors app, including downloading a mobile key that will open your room door. (Two requirements for this: you need to have a Hilton Honors account which is free and easy to get, and also you need to have that number attached to your reservation.)
BUT RELAXING IS STILL THE SAME
Since there are so many pools, you're never far away from a quick refreshing dip (indeed, you should book a poolside casita to make that the quickest walk.) And there's a mobile bar car that scoots around the property serving up alcoholic beverages so you don't have to walk far, or at all, to get a drink. Technically called the Veuve Beverage Cart, this souped up golf cart will serve whatever you're in the mood for from mimosas to margaritas. (Make sure these are topped with tajín!) Lazing around a pool with a drink in one hand and a book in the other will never get old.
