With movie theaters shuttered around most of the country, it made perfect sense that the old-timey drive-in movie theater would make a comeback.(Cue the “Oh Sandy” song from Grease!) Even Wal-Mart is getting in on the action.
Here in Los Angeles (along with a few others in New York and Texas), Tribeca Film is operating a pop-up drive-in theater until August 2, showcasing some of your favorite classic flicks. And for families, several of those showings are weekend matinees, perfect for kids. Each car is $26 (plus about a $4 online processing fee) which is still a hefty discount from regular movie theater prices. Alas, you will have to BYOSPK (Sour Patch Kids) but at least you won't have to be paranoid about your kids making too much noise in the theater anymore.
Below is the upcoming list of shows and times, with the family-friendly options bolded. Tribeca Film says more cities will get these limited theaters too so we'll update new locations as we see them.
