The One Airport ‘Runway’ You’ll Be Excited to Hang Out On

We're only days away from Christmas so we figure why not just load up on hotels that are in the holiday mood? Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel's holiday decorations whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas trees, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances.

Turns out you're not only going to want to stay at the ultimate throwback hotel —The TWA Hotel—at JFK Airport, which converted the iconic TWA terminal into a swish boutique hotel, but you'll also want to skate there!

That's because the hotel has opened up its Runway Rink featuring a custom, 56 x 44-foot ice rink on the former terminal's tarmac, in gliding distance of the 1958 Lockheed Constellation Connie airplane-turned-cocktail lounge.

Open seven days a week through the end of February, the rink will also featuring skating shows set in an Arctic expedition. Or as Runway Rink puts it:

The show theme takes inspiration from our Connie’s history: after retiring from TWA, tail number N8083H served as an Alaskan bush plane dropping supplies in the Prudhoe Bay!

The shows will happen during the week at 6:15pm and 7:45pm but on the weekends, the performances take place a little earlier at 5pm and 6:30pm. The rink will be serving lots of fun sweets and treats such as Sno-Caps candy, frosty beers, and TWA-branded accessories. The cost is $15 for adults; $10 for kids under 12. Ice skate rentals are available for $10 for adults and $8 for kids under 12.
