Trips + Giggles Favorite Places: Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf

Estimated read time 3 min read

What's a summer without a round of mini-golf? Well, in the time of coronavirus, playing mini-golf isn't exactly the carefree activity that it once was. BUT that doesn't mean it can't be done.

In Jupiter, Florida, The Lighthouse Cove miniature golf course is open and it has expertly managed social distancing and sanitization. Here's how it works:

1. Masks are required: This is a no-brainer but masks are required when you enter The Lighthouse Cove to pay for your round. There's also a small ice cream shop inside, but more on that later.

2. Select your own golf ball: A rack of colored balls are displayed on the counter and everyone can pick their own color. But if someone, let's say a 3-year-old, selects a blue ball but then decides he wants a green ball, that blue ball is handed over to an employee who will sanitize the ball in a bucket of disinfectant.

3. Clubs are constantly sanitized: The same process goes for club selection. Since it might take two or three club tries to find the right putter, the clubs that aren't used get sanitized in bucket, handle-sized down, before being put back on the rack.

4. Courses are outdoors: And once you're through the check-in process, you can breathe again outdoors. The two 18-hole courses are entirely outside which brings a huge level of comfort to families. And several of them have water components. Although, if you play in the heat of the day in the middle of summer, you will get pretty hot so bring hats, sunscreen, bottled water and anything else you need to keep cool. Don't forget the hand sanitizer too.

5. Finish it off with some ice cream: Once you return your clubs and thoroughly apply hand sanitizer all over your hands, get a couple of scoops of ice cream or sherbert to take outside as a celebratory treat. But remember, only every other table is allowed.

BOTTOM LINE:
Children 5 and under are $6.99 while everyone else is $12.99 for one round of 18 holes. If you want to replay, it's just $4.00 per person to do so. If you want to play both courses at once, it's just $16.99 and unlimited play is $17.99. There are senior and military discounts as well.
