A Look at the Awesome WEB Slingers Ride at Avengers Campus

Estimated read time 2 min read

First Look! Spider-Man is just one of many super heroes you will find roaming around at Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure when it opens on Friday, June 4. But he is the only super hero who gets his own ride—WEB Slingers.

This new ride (which replaced an old Bug's Life ride) has loads of invisible technology in it, aside from very visible technology like massive 3D screens. But what makes this ride so awesome is that you can essentially sling your own webs at Peter Parker's out-of-control spider-bots, no super powers needed.

The way the invisible technology works is that while you're in your seat, it is sensing where your head, arms and wrists are aiming and then matching that direction as precisely as possible on the screen. It's a true Marvel, heh, and sure to be a popular addition to the Disney experience.

Of course, since the ride does keep score, you can enhance your performance with some real-life web slingers and their attachments, which are available at WEB Suppliers shop just in front of the ride. These attachments will help your web slinging be more precise and thus, contribute to a higher score in the game. We also love this game because there's no age or height restrictions. Everyone can do their part to stop the spider-bots!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This ride is a virtual-queue only ride, meaning you can't just waltz up and wait in line. Instead, you'll have to get your virtual pass through the Disneyland mobile app. Access to the ride will open each day at 7am and noon, depending on which park your ticket is for. Avengers Campus itself wil also be closed off once it reaches capacity. After that, folks will have to enter a Standby group, which can be done at the entrance to the land. You can read more about these protocols here.
