In Memory of Molly

Estimated read time 3 min read

A light went out in our neighborhood this week. Molly Steinsapir, 12, died after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a bike accident, even though she was wearing a helmet. The tragedy is unfathomable for all of us who live here, but it's especially unbearable for her parents Kaye and Jon and her brothers Nate and Eli. There is nothing we can do to ease the pain but we can keep Molly's memory alive and that's we will do.

Indeed, Molly's story has touched many people throughout the world as prayers streamed through social media and news outlets from so many countries near and far. This outpouring of hope, strength and faith are certainly a huge comfort to her family in the past few weeks.

When her daughter passed, Kaye asked friends and family to honor her memory with a donation to a children's donation and to do something kind for someone in Molly's name as that is the type of sweet sensitive soul that Molly was. If you're feeling charitable and if you would like to lend some comfort to the Steinsapir family, please consider making a donation in honor of Molly's short-lived, but beautiful life.

One charity that has already been set up in Molly's honor is the Adi Negev Petting Zoo in Israel.

Adi Negev, located in central Israel, is a world renowned rehabilitation village that offers unparalleled care for children and adults with severe disabilities. On-site is a large petting zoo which features horses, dogs, rabbits, goats, chickens, fishes and birds which empowers residents and outpatients to reach their potential through animal therapy. With your donation, Molly’s memory will live on through love of animals, a trait inherited from her great grandfather Dr. Paul Chaffee, a dedicated veterinarian and champion of safari animals.
