JetBlue Mint is Like One Big Refresh-Mint in the Sky

Our love for JetBlue has always been pretty strong, but it's especially grown during the pandemic.

Aside from requiring face masks early on, JetBlue did not book the middle seat for most of the year, unless for families traveling together of course. The two flights we took over the summer with the kids were definitely austere compared to the Before times (no food or beverage service), but we felt very safe. You can read about that here.

But as a holiday splurge, for our return flight back to Los Angeles after two months in Florida we booked the family in JetBlue's Mint cabin, one of the best first/business class products out there. (At least in the U.S.) l

The Mint cabin has recently undergone a major refresh-Mint of its amenities and services, namely with bedding, the amenity kit, and the food. The seats haven't changed since the cabin was first introduced in 2014 but JetBlue did just recently announce a new cabin layout for its upcoming transatlantic routes. The 2-2 1-1 layout of the seats in the cabin is also a perk since it allows one lucky person (MOM, always) to sit all alone.

We recently detailed our whole flight experience in Mint on Runway Girl Network, an aviation industry site, which you can read here for nitty gritty details. But we've pulled out some highlights for the fam here:

  • COZY. The bedding is by Tuft and Needle and ultra cozy, especially when you lie flat in the seat. Our eldest randomly went to sleep for two hours after the flight took off.
  • PAMPERED. The amenity kit includes items natural and organic products curated by Wanderfuel that are meant to work specifically during traveling. It even comes with a handy chart to tell you when to use the products.
  • WELL-FED. Meal service is actually five small meals, of which you can choose three. These are actual culinary dishes developed by Delicious Hospitality Group, not just airplane food. However, these are a little “sophisticated” for children. Luckily, there are plenty of snacks and dessert served is usually an ice cream.
  • DISTRACTED. The free Wi-Fi offered by JetBlue continues to be the saving grace for so many passengers. The in-flight options on the screen were so-so (not many current movies we wanted to watch) but the WiFi allowed us and the kids to stream whatever we wanted from our own devices.

And best of all, booking Mint gets you two free checked bags, which we certainly needed after two months in Florida collecting…things.

Yes, booking Mint is a splurge but with many airline fares way down since last year, especially on less frequented routes, it was a manageable splurge that made a long flight home much more bearable.
