We all know what happened that time we forgot a bag for our car seat on a flight—it showed up broken in half with the bottom part missing. Thanks Delta!

Which is why we've always stressed the importance of a car seat bag for your car seats. Now we'd like to stress the importance of buying a quality car seat bag for your car seats which, let's face it, cost you (or whoever splurged for the seat from your baby registry) a pretty penny.

We had been using the cheapie Babies R' Us bags but on a recent flight that bag got shredded and the car seat upholstery got sliced as well. Crazy. So investing in some top quality car seat bags is always a good idea.

Here are two that we're loving lately because of the backpack straps. Anything that frees your hands up is worth it, even if you might feel like a dork wearing it. #thingswewilldoforourchildren

This one from J.L Childress ($39.99)

And this one from ReperKid which is cheaper ($24.99) but could also be prone to random acts of airline baggage shredding. Just FYI.

And if you're really in a bind, you can ask the airline for car seat bags when you check your luggage. Southwest Airlines actually sells stroller bags at their bag drops and online.

For $17, you'll get a 48” x 20.5” x 12.5” bag that folds up into a little pouch. It's a little big for a car seat but it will do the job. And it's emblazoned with the Southwest logo so hopefully, they will hand it with good care.
