This Hotel is Making Family Movie Night Actually Enjoyable

It might officially be fall according to the calendar, but the weather hasn't quite turned yet here in Los Angeles. In fact, we're in the middle of a heat wave. Which is why The Fairmont Miramar's Poolside Cinema in Santa Monica is an absolute life-saver.

The Saturday night movie showings allow families to order up food from the hotel's FIG Restaurant while catching a fun flick (we saw Madagascar) and getting a chance to cool off in the hotel pool. If you don't have a pool, or know someone who does, THIS is the best move. Or even if you do have a pool, having someone else do all the work for your family movie night is awesome too.

Our crew showed up to the hotel at around 6:45pm and was instantly impressed with the hotel's high-tech temperature scanner. From there, we headed out to the pool, which is just beyond the FIG restaurant's patio and sat down on a couple of loungers directly across from the screen.

Swimming was encouraged but our kids were too excited about the food (mac and cheese, pizzas, grilled cheese) and the free popcorn to dive in. (Go figure.)  The movie promptly started at 7:15pm, just as the sun was setting. Even better, adults could imbibe craft cocktails while kicking back and letting the movie do all the entertaining. Win-win!

There are only a few more showings left in October but hopefully Fairmont Miramar will continue something similar through the holidays too. Go to Resy.com to book your dinner, dip, and a movie. And here are the movie showings for the next few weeks:

Oct 3: Hook
*Oct 9: How to Train Your Dragon (Friday)
*Oct 16: Cheaper by The Dozen (Friday)
Oct 24: Little Rascals
